Plan A Architecture, LLC is an award-winning, full service architectural firm located in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  The firm retains a strong focus on design quality from initial concept to the final built project.  With extensive experience in new construction and custom renovations, this talented group of architects and designers provide personalized service to their residential, commercial, and hospitality clients.

Plan A was formed in 2007 by Stephen Samuelson and Greg Reid.  Both members previously collaborated at Studio Arquitectura, the office Stephen co-founded in 1989.

Plan A specializes in unique custom residences and restaurants, as well as smaller scale retail and renovation projects.  Emphasis on proper siting, sustainability, and green design are important elements of their work.  The members take pride in providing professional service and making the design process a satisfying and positive experience for all their clients.

With a portfolio of work that includes Traditional Southwest adobe, Modernism, and an eclectic-mix of regional vernacular styles, Plan A's designs are as diverse as their clientele.  Plan A's goal is to produce beautiful buildings that are realizations of their clients' dreams.

Stephen's passion for the design and building process began in his teens when he worked for his grandfather in Boston.  His experiences working alongside master Swedish carpenters on the restoration of historic New England structures gave him a strong appreciation for how high quality craftsmanship is integral to the creation of beautiful hand-built structures and interior spaces.

Santa Fe has a rich tradition as an artists' enclave, and Stephen is able to work with a diverse collection of local artisans and craftsmen.  His collaboration with these artisans has led to the creation of unique and stunning spaces.

Stephen attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and Architecture, and founded Woodwrights Construction Company in Boston prior to moving his family to Santa Fe in 1979.  He later co-founded Studio Arquitectura as a design/build company before concentrating on design and architecture.  He specializes in custom residential and award-winning hospitality projects worldwide.

Stephen has held a GB-98 General Contractor License in New Mexico for many years.  He currently splits his time between Santa Fe and Milwaukee.

Greg began working with Stephen Samuelson at Studio Arquitectura in 1993 after moving to Santa Fe from Manhattan. Greg had years of experience in residential architecture in New York that he has been able to incorporate into his work in the Southwest. In New York, he worked for A. Epstein and Sons, Eric D.W. Cohler, and Stephen B. Jacobs and Associates.  That experience spanned from designing affordable housing projects in Brooklyn, Harlem, and the Bronx, to luxury renovations on Park Avenue.

Prior to forming Plan A Architecture in 2007, Greg also worked for Flatow Moore Shaffer McCabe in Albuquerque as lead design architect on international commercial, hospitality, and spa projects for Ritz-Carlton and Marriott hotels.

Greg received his Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University.  In addition to his modernist education, he is well versed in traditional and vernacular architecture, and so prefers designing in the style that best suits the project and site at hand.  He also enjoys international travel, rock climbing, and playing ice hockey at 7000 feet.

Greg is a licensed architect in New York, New Mexico, California, Pennsylvania, Kansas.  He is also nationally certified by NCARB.
